New JUMO Temperature Sensor Enables Reliable Soldering

Platinum temperature sensors are regarded as robust, long-lasting, and reliable. They are characterized by good vibration resistance as well as fast responding qualities. They can also record temperatures in a range of several hundred degrees. In some cases, however, the soldering of the nickel connection wires for the sensors proves problematic. JUMO now provides a solution to this issue in the form of the PCA ET, a platinum temperature sensor with additional tinning.

An important application for the new sensor is in the field of medical engineering. Among other applications in this field, it can be used for the analysis of bodily fluids or in dialysis machines. The PCA ET (economic tinned) is also well-suited for use in heating and air-conditioning technology. As a result of the application in humid environments, it is possible to install this sensor in combined humidity and temperature measuring transducers.

JUMO temperature sensors have only previously been available without tinning, as normally a soldering process is qualified by the end customers. In this qualification the exact flux to be used is specified, amongst other things. The ET temperature sensor that is now on the market is already pre-tinned. This way, any soldering process, irrespective of the used flux, can be applied. The PCA ET platinum temperature sensor is available in sizes of 1.5 x 5 x 1 mm and 2 x 5 x 1.3 mm. It is supplied with the rated values Pt100 and Pt1000with tolerances of F0.1, F0.15, and F0.3.

A special feature of the sensor is the version in the F0.6 tolerance class. The F0.6 tolerance class is supplied "on tape" and is therefore suitable for automatic mounting. As a result, this sensor can be applied very economically and efficiently.
