History

Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded the company M. K. JUCHHEIM in Fulda – better known as JUMO (derived from the founder’s name) – and started the production of glass thermometers and glass contact thermometers. He was born on July 4, 1910 in Ilmenau in Thuringia, Germany  where his father already produced thermometers.
Right from the start his philosophy was to manufacture high-quality precision instruments and to offer the best possible service.

Progressive expansion of the product range to include dial thermometers and electromechanical thermostats. A national distribution network became established.

Production of devices for electrical measuring, control, and recording as well as temperature sensors. Branches are founded in Germany and subsidiary companies abroad.

Expansion continues with both the continuing and new development of electronic temperature controllers, recorders, and programmers as well as transmitters.

Introduction of thin-film technology for platinum sensors. Production was expanded to cover measuring and control devices to determine chemical process variables.

 
Dipl.-Ing. Bernhard Juchheim took over the management of M. K. JUCHHEIM GmbH & Co. after the death of his eldest brother, Peter.
Bernhard, the youngest son of Moritz Kurt Juchheim, was born on December 24, 1949.

Dynamic growth through the development of high-tech equipment, process control systems, smart transmitters, bus technology, the most modern visualization software, and many other factors.

Moritz Kurt Juchheim died on November 2, 1996 in Fulda. He played an active role in managing the company right up to his death.

Opening of the new sales and production building for the temperature sensor technology product line – with a total area of 4.680 m² – on August 3, 2002 in the Eisweiher industrial park.

The JUMO trade name has achieved outstanding international significance in the field of metrology, control engineering, and automation technology. As result, it was decided to adjust the formal company name in Germany to match the international name. In June, M. K. JUCHHEIM GmbH & Co was renamed to JUMO GmbH & Co. KG.


Dipl.-Kfm. Michael Juchheim was appointed to managing director in addition to his father Bernhard Juchheim.

Commissioning of a new logistics center with a finished-goods store, order picking and packing. Automatic warehousing technology, a barcode-controlled handling system, as well as a newly set up dispatch ramp – all put in place to ensure fast and reliable shipment.

Security generates trust. Creation of a new IT center with high availability to assure all DP-controlled process flows.

Market launch of innovative products with a certified functional reliability to minimize process and user risks.

The American subsidiary JUMO Process Control Inc. inaugurates the new main office in the Canastota Business Park. The new building offers additional space for in-house sensor production.


Soon after, JUMO invests in a new building in Stäfa, Switzerland, uniting administration and production in one single location.

In honor of the company’s founder Moritz Kurt Juchheim, the access road to JUMO's headquarters in Fulda is renamed to Moritz-Juchheim-Straße.

The implemented wireless technology offers customers completely new applications in the field of measured value acquisition.

The wireless temperature measurement enables solutions in areas which are difficult to access. Expensive special cables are no longer necessary.

At the beginning of May, the new office of the Spanish subsidiary JUMO Control S.A. is inaugurated in Madrid. The newly constructed facility allows the design and structure to be optimally geared towards the needs of JUMO Spain from the outset of the planning phase.

JUMO Canada is established as a new subsidiary in early July. Now located in Burlington, Ontario, JUMO is well-positioned to offer dedicated service to Canadian customers.
